Caloroso choirs Belgium
In 2002, Inge Sykora formed a vocal ensemble with the students of her singing class. More than 20 years later, Caloroso vzw has grown into a choir school with various choirs, in which singers from 4 to 65 years old are given a place.
Vocal ensemble Caloroso is the youth choir for equal voices that consists of 24 singers between the ages of 15 and 25. Vocal ensemble Caloroso has won great prizes at, among others, the EMJ (Belgium), the “Heart Of Europe” International Choir Festival (Germany), the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod (Wales) and the “39th Bydgoszcz Musical Impressions- International Meetings of Young Musicians” (Poland), IKV Vlaanderen (Belgium).
Female chamber choir Caloroso is the adult choir for women between the ages of 25 and 45 and is led by Jasmien Gys. This ensemble has already won great prizes during, among others, the World Choir Games in Antwerp (Belgium), the International Anton Bruckner Choir Competition in Linz (Austria). The ensemble also participates in the CantaRode Choir Festival in Kerkrade (the Netherlands).
Caloroso vzw is happy to be an ambassador for Flemish choral music during these festivals. Both ensembles have already performed many world premieres of Flemish compositions.
In addition to these two excellent competition ensembles, the other choirs in the Caloroso choir school also hold their own! Both the training choirs for young children and teenagers and the mixed adult choir have already shone on many stages and successfully participated in choir festivals or competitions.
Caloroso offers its singers the widest possible repertoire. Both classical works and contemporary choral music as well as world music and pop songs are offered. Caloroso has been asked several times for television and sound recordings.
Caloroso vzw also wants to offer opportunities to choirs in Flanders and to young Flemish composers. That is why Caloroso vzw organizes the biennial event “beVOICEd”, a festival for youth choirs of equal voices and also the biennial event “Goed geSTEMd!”, a festival for mixed adult choirs.

Inge Sykora
Inge Sykora (°1975) is the founder of the Caloroso choirs.
Inge learned to play the guitar as a child. At the age of 14 she developed a preference for singing and choir music.
From 1994 to 2002 she taught singing at the J.M.A. Waelrant. Vocal Ensemble Waelrant originated out of this class, it later became the Caloroso Vocal Ensemble.
She graduated in 2002 as a teacher of Dutch, history and religion after which she taught for a few years. In 2007 she graduated cum laude as a teaching and performing musician. Her main subject was singing, at the Fontys Conservatory at Tilburg in The Netherlands. During July 2009 and July 2010 she attended a course in choir conducting at the International Bach days in Bruges, where she was taught by a.o. Ludo Claessens. In 2015 Inge graduated magna cum laude a Master’s degree in choir conducting with Luc Anthonis at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp.
Today Inge Sykora teaches classical singing at the municipal Music academy Brasschaat, Antwerp and also conducts the children’s and youth choir of the academy.
Inge is the proud mother of Hannelore and Marjolien.
